Niagara

Rushing ever forward
never looking back.
The water falls,
and sinks
later to emerge unseen,
Unrecognized.

Over and over,
onward unceasing
the water falls,
and sinks.
Rushing past those who look on,
gaping in awe at the sight.

Through the monotony
a colour emerges
and another and another
Red,
Orange,
Yellow,
Green,
Blue,
Indigo,
Violet
with every subtle shade in between.

The foam is tinted,
the water no longer just blue.
Colour arrives.
Out of the grimness of the storm
it appears
Relieving the monochromatic tendencies
painting the scene a dim gray.
